12th Annual Workshop on Information Security

The Workshop on Information Security (WISec) provides guidance to budding researchers on how to cultivate an idea on information security or privacy, and develop it into a research project. The participants will get the chance to present and obtain comments on their research, and hear about the work of their peers. 

Schedule (May 25-28, 2020)

Monday, May 25 (AM): Lecture

  • Developing research model
  • Theory Selection
  • Design of research plans
  • Help participants strategize about their research plans

Monday, May 25 (PM): Participant presentations

  • Each participant will have 15 minutes to present
  • 30 minutes of discussion & feedback
  • Every workshop participant should generate at least two questions or comments for each presenter (write them down on a paper to be given to the presenter).
  • Each presenter will then respond to pertinent comments

Tuesday, May 26 (AM): Participant presentations

  • Each participant will have 15 minutes to present

Tuesday, May 26 (PM): Visit to NATO

  • NATO Presentation on Cybersecurity, Cyber warfare
  • Discussion with NATO Cybersecurity Executive

Wednesday, May 27 (AM): Visit to European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS)

  • EDPS Presentation on GDPR Implementation, E-Privacy
  • Discussion with EDPS GDPR Executive

Wednesday, May 27 (PM): 2nd Annual Digital Privacy & E-Privacy Summit

  • Participate in the Summit
  • Engage in discussions on digital piracy, e-privacy, and cybersecurity
  • Interact with High-level delegates

Thursday, May 28 (AM): Paper-a-thon

  • Research project hackathon
  • Articulate contributions to literature and possible implications for practice
  • Prepare the “pitch” presentation

Thursday, May 28 (PM): Open Collaboration Session

  • Field Observations (Qualitative Research)
  • Discussion & Reflections
  • Completing your research projects
  • WISec 2020 Wrap Up 

Friday, May 29: (Optional) For AICL Fellows

  • AICL Fellows join EU Delegation activity plan

AICL Certificate

Upon completion, participants will be awarded AICL Certificate of Attendance/Completion.


Publishing Opportunity

Participants have the following publishing options:

  • Fast-track their working paper to Cybersecurity Perspectives journal
  • Fast-track completed theoretical paper to the Journal of Cybersecurity Awareness & Education
